Ford ovals are OEM Ford, Lincoln and Mercury converters identified by a four-character Ford prefix such as 5L34, XR33 or F6DC followed by a three-letter stamp. The stamp decides the price, so photograph the whole line.

The code is stamped into the shell or a welded plate, usually near a flange. Wipe the surface and photograph it straight on in daylight. If two sections are welded together, photograph both.
